Scott Strange's amateur career was highlighted by wins at the Lake Macquarie Amateur and the West Australian Amateur Championships before turning professional in 2001.

He won events in the South Pacific and played the Asian Tour early in his career, winning the Myanmar and Philippine Opens before his big breakthrough came when earning enough in jointly sanctioned events in Asia to graduate to the European Tour in 2008.

He experienced almost immediate success in Europe when winning in his rookie season at the Celtic Manor Wales Open and would win again in 2009 at the Volvo China Open.

His best performance in Australia to date came when runner- up at the 2009 PGA Championship behind Robert Allenby at Hyatt Regency Coolum. Strange played several seasons on the Japan Tour but lost status there in 2018 and has spent 2019 on the secondary tour in that country where he finished 19th on their Order of Merit.
