Ryo Katsumata from Japan is a professional golfer on the Japan Golf Tour (JGTO) who secured his first tour victory during the 2025 season. A former baseball player who took up golf at age 14 following a knee injury, Katsumata played collegiately at Nihon University before turning professional in 2017.
His breakthrough came in September 2025 at the Panasonic Open Golf Championship, where he claimed his maiden JGTO title. Katsumata posted a 20-under par total to win the event by one stroke. He followed this victory with consistent performances late in the season, recording a tied-3rd finish at the Mitsui Sumitomo VISA Taiheiyo Masters and a tied-9th at the Casio World Open.
