A mechanic and airport worker before turning professional in 2010, Max McCardle has put together numerous top tens on both the PGA Tour of Australasia and the PGA Tour Series China, finishing runner-up on two occasions in PGA Tour of Australasia events, at the Lexus Heritage Classic in Victoria and the NT PGA Championship.
McCardle has regularly played a full schedule of events on the PGA Tour Series China, recording a best of runner-up in an event in 2016. One of his better performances however came when he finished 10th at the 2013 Australian Open won by Rory McIlroy.
