He was awarded a scholarship to the St Michaels Golf Club in Sydney in 2008 and played there for four years winning the Australian Amateur Championship in 2011 and turned professional in 2012.
Stieger won the NSW PGA Championship in his first year as a professional and has played the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Asian Tour for most of his career since.
In 2017 a ruptured ACL joint would mean a year away from the game but he returned in 2018, recording a 6th place at the Panasonic Indian Open that year.
