Kazuma Kobori has quickly established himself as one of New Zealand’s most exciting rising stars in world golf.

Born in Japan and raised in Rangiora, Kobori first emerged on the national radar as a standout amateur, winning the New Zealand Amateur Championship in 2019 and representing New Zealand at multiple international amateur events. His consistent results and composed playing style made him one of the most highly regarded prospects in the country.

Kobori elevated his profile further by winning multiple titles on the Jennian Homes Charles Tour, including the Muriwai Open and Autex Muriwai Open, showcasing a maturity well beyond his years. His performances earned him selection for New Zealand’s elite development squads and positioned him as a future professional talent.

He turned professional in late 2023 and made an immediate impact. Competing on the PGA Tour of Australasia, Kobori delivered one of the most dominant rookie seasons in recent memory, winning four times across the 2023–24 schedule. His victories included the Heritage Classic, the Gippsland Super 6, the Victorian PGA Championship, and the Webex Players Series Sydney—results that propelled him to both the Order of Merit title and the Rookie of the Year award. His season-long performance also secured him exemptions into the 2024 Open Championship, the 2025 DP World Tour, and several major international events.

In 2024 and into 2025, Kobori continued to rise on the global stage. Competing internationally across the DP World Tour and co-sanctioned events, he recorded multiple strong finishes, gaining valuable experience against some of the world’s best fields. His precision iron play, calm temperament, and ability to score in all conditions have made him one of New Zealand golf’s most compelling young prospects.

Still early in his professional journey, Kazuma Kobori’s rapid progression, combined with his proven winning ability, marks him as a player with significant international upside — and a key figure in the next generation of New Zealand golf.
