James Hydes from New Zealand is a rising star on the PGA Tour of Australasia and his domestic Jennian Homes Charles Tour. A highly decorated competitor during his amateur days, Hydes was a standout member of the Golf New Zealand National Academy and built a resume filled with massive international and domestic titles. His amateur highlights include capturing the prestigious St Andrews Links Trophy at the Home of Golf in Scotland, the Welsh Open Stroke Play Championship, and the New Zealand Amateur. Remarkably, he proved his ability to beat the pros before even making the leap to the paid ranks, famously coming from behind to win the Autex Muriwai Open on the Charles Tour in 2020.
After officially turning professional in early 2023 ahead of the New Zealand Open, Hydes has steadily found his footing on tour. He successfully navigated the grueling PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School in 2025 to secure his full playing rights for the region’s premier circuit. Now focused on climbing the world rankings, Hydes relies on his elite ball-striking and proven winning pedigree to consistently contend in marquee events across the Asia-Pacific as he hunts for his maiden tier-one victory as a pro.
