Papadatos turned professional in 2012 and soon after finished 3rd at the Perth International at Lake Karrinyup. Playing on the Asian and European Challenge Tour for several years but after gaining partial status to the European Tour in 2019 he ended up playing 16 events and, unable to secure full status, he returned to the Tour School in November where he has again missed full status.
His other wins in addition to the New Zealand Open came when winning the 2017 WAPGA Championship in Kalgoorlie, the 2017 Vic Open at 13th Beach and the European Challenge Tour’s Open de Portugal in 2018. Papadatos also finished runner-up to Abraham Ancer at the 2018 Australian Open at the Lakes Golf Club in Sydney.
In 2022, Dimitrios Papadatos has joined the likes of Australian golf legends Peter Thomson and Kel Nagle as a two-time winner of the Vic Open.
