Daniel Nisbet first came to Queenstown as a caddie but the Australian Boys champion returned in 2018 without expectation.
He turned professional in 2012 winning his first title in Hong Kong. However, in 2018 he set tongues wagging with a remarkable nine-under-par 62 in the final round at Millbrook Resort to overtake leader Terry Pilkadaris with his remarkable 258 smashing the tournament record of 262 set by Rodger Davis at the Grange in 1986. His 27-under total was also better than the great Kel Nagle’s mark of 26-under in 1964.
The victory gave him his Asian Tour card and starts in the Japan Golf Tour to re-ignite his career, with a second professional win at the NTPGA Championship, and early in 2019 the Queensland Open.
