From his standout days as one of New Zealand’s top amateur prospects to battling through injury early in his professional career, Ben Campbell has built a noteworthy reputation on the world stage. Based in Queenstown, he turned pro in 2012 and has steadily charted a path to success.
Campbell has four professional wins to his name: twice on the Asian Tour (the 2023 Hong Kong Open and the 2024 International Series Morocco), the 2018 New Zealand PGA Championship, and a win on the domestic Charles Tour. His signature moment came at the 2023 Hong Kong Open when he birdied the final two holes to defeat Cameron Smith by one stroke. He followed that with a dramatic playoff victory at the 2024 International Series Morocco, holing a 20-foot birdie putt at the 18th in sudden death to topple John Catlin.
He has also built a strong record at his home tournament, the New Zealand Open (held at Millbrook Resort). He was runner-up in a memorable playoff in 2017 and again in 2023, underscoring his affinity for the event.
Victory at the International Series Morocco in July 2024 represented his second Asian Tour win and came via a dramatic finish — an eagle on 17 and birdie on 18 to force a playoff, then a birdie on the first extra hole to win. Campbell’s strong performances on the Asian Tour elevated his status: he finished the season high up the International Series rankings and positioned himself among non-LIV players leading into the 2025 season. He played as a reserve on the LIV Golf League in 2024 (filling in for other team members in multiple events), demonstrating he was ready for the next step.
In January 2025, Ben Campbell was selected to join the RangeGoats GC roster in LIV Golf for the 2025 season, moving from reserve status into a full-team role alongside captain Bubba Watson, Peter Uihlein and Matthew Wolff. At the 2025 LIV Golf Singapore event, Campbell turned in one of his best professional finishes: a 3rd-place result, finishing at 11-under and earning US$1.5 million (NZ$2.61 million) — his largest payday to date. He began the 2025 season with consistent results on the LIV Tour (including a T15 at Riyadh and T23 at Adelaide).
Ben Campbell’s trajectory shows him transitioning from domestic & regional success into global contention and as one of New Zealand’s most prominent professional golfers.
