Ricky Ponting is a former Australian cricketer, widely regarded as one of the best batsmen in the history of the game. Born in Launceston, Tasmania, Ponting made his international debut in 1995 and went on to captain Australia from 2004 to 2011.
He is one of the most successful captains in cricket history, leading Australia to two ICC Cricket World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007. Ponting amassed over 27,000 runs across all formats, including 41 centuries, and played a pivotal role in Australia’s dominance during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
His aggressive batting style, sharp cricketing mind, and leadership qualities made him a central figure in Australian cricket. After retiring from international cricket in 2012, Ponting transitioned to coaching and commentary.

How are you feeling about playing in the New Zealand Open this year? Honestly, its my favourite week of the year. I hope and pray after each tournament that I get an invite back for the next one!
