Israel Dagg is a former All Black, known for his exceptional skill, speed, and versatility on the field. Born in Hastings, New Zealand, Dagg played primarily as a fullback or winger for the All Blacks, making his debut in 2008.
He was a key member of the team during their successful 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign, where New Zealand triumphed on home soil. Dagg earned 66 test caps and scored 23 tries for his country, making significant contributions both in attack and defence.
His career also saw him play for the Crusaders in Super Rugby and the Hawke’s Bay in provincial rugby. Known for his attacking flair, Dagg retired from international rugby in 2017 and has since ventured into media and coaching roles.

- What is the best your best handicap has been? I think I was down to a 1 once
- Golfing highlight: The best round will have to be the third of the New Zealand Open in 2024. I eagled hole 17 (net albatross) in front of a decent crowd.
- Your favourite course in New Zealand? Te Arai Links in Auckland – Great views and very enjoyable to play
- How has your golf been since the last New Zealand Open? Golf has been solid and my handicap has stayed the same. I’ve changed my irons this year so will see if the change helps.
- What is the New Zealand Open experience like? Getting the call to play in the New Zealand Open is always an honour and something I cherish every time I’m asked to do so.
- What is it like playing alongside a professional? A question that I am often asked and I compare it to playing in the masters at Augusta!! This is my major.
