The three leading male amateurs – Cooper Moore, Josh Bai, and Robby Turnbull – have earned their spots in the field following outstanding performances both locally and internationally.
This year’s male representatives bring exceptional momentum. Josh Bai returns to the event, having gained invaluable experience last year, while Cooper Moore and Robby Turnbull are making their debuts following a string of impressive results.
Thanks to the generosity of Craigs Investment Partners, Moore, Bai, and Turnbull – as well as this year’s Queen Sirikit Cup team, will all receive scholarship donations into their player trust accounts. These scholarships will assist with expenses such as travel, and coaching, easing the financial pressures typically faced by amateur golfers.
Golf New Zealand’s High-Performance Manager, Gregg Thorpe is thankful to Craigs for their ongoing support “Receiving an invite into the New Zealand Open or being selected to play for New Zealand at the Queen Sirikit Trophy are special milestones for our young players. Both events provide a valuable opportunity for some of our very best amateur players to test and showcase their skills, and are important steps toward their ultimate goals,” said Thorpe.
Jeremy Williamson, Craigs Investment Partners’ Head of Private Wealth and Markets, emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting aspiring golfers:
“We’re proud to support the next generation of Kiwi golfing stars. Our association with the New Zealand Open allows us to give back to these talented players and help them take their game to the world stage. We believe these scholarships will help reduce the barriers they face and allow them to focus on their development and performance.”
The impact of this support is already evident. Last year’s recipients, including Jayden Ford, Zack Swanwick, and Josh Bai, have each carved their own pathways in the game. Ford has recently turned professional, Swanwick is thriving in the U.S. college system, and Bai is returning to the New Zealand Open with greater experience.
For the top 3 female amateurs the scholarships will support their preparation for their Queen Sirikit Cup campaign at Phoenix Seagaia Resort, Miyazaki, Japan in May 2025.
Thorpe highlighted the importance of Craigs Investment Partners’ continued support: “We are incredibly grateful for Craigs Investment Partners’ investment in our young players. The additional funding will help enhance the Queen Sirikit team’s preparation, giving them the best chance to make history and secure the trophy to bring it home to NZ.”
