Speaking about heading to Queenstown for his first start in the New Zealand Open Micheluzzi said, “It’s going to be very cool, and what a place, Queenstown. All I’ve heard is good things, so that has to be good.”
Having not played at Millbrook Resort before, Micheluzzi is playing on arriving early and scoping out the courses to give himself the best shot in Queenstown.
“I’m arriving on Monday afternoon, so I might do a little bit of practice on Monday; I might even go and walk a nine and see what the place is like.”
Micheluzzi all but secured a DP World Tour card with a record-setting victory at the TPS Sydney at Bonnie Doon Golf Club last week.
His stunning birdie blitz in the final round reeled in the leaders down the stretch with a blazing final-round 10-under-par 61
He is now targeting the order of merit points on offer at the New Zealand Open and will be looking to go all guns blazing to give himself the best shot.
“I really need to play well to really give myself a good chance of winning the Order of Merit. Anything can happen with the top three as well. I feel like that’s pretty safe but I want to win the Order of Merit now so I’ve got to go out and play the best golf I can.”
” I’m playing pretty good, but I just want to play good golf and go from there.”
