Fourteen golfers from across Otago took to the course in good conditions, with Monty Novacek claiming the opening qualifier with an impressive 38 Stableford points.

As the winner, Monty has secured an automatic place in the Journey to the Open final at Millbrook Resort in January, putting him one step closer to earning a place in the New Zealand Open Pro-Am field.
The qualifier, played as part of the Golf NZ Futures series across Otago and Southland, saw 33 players take part in total, making for a great day of golf and community involvement at Dunedin Golf Club.
Under the new qualifying format, there are still three opportunities for players to earn a direct place in the final, in one of the three remaining qualifying tournaments.
While winning one of the remaining qualifiers will secure an automatic place in the Millbrook Resort final a further 6 or 9 players will also secure a finals spot. These spots will be from, their best two Stableford scores from the four qualifying tournaments they are eligible to play in The leaderboard for these scores will updated after each event.
All Journey to the Open finalists will compete in the finals event at Millbrook Resort on Sunday January 17 with the top three players on the day advancing to an exciting three person nearest-the-pin shootout to determine the winner of the spot in the New Zealand Open Pro-Am field!
