Australian Ben Eccles, who travelled to New Zealand on holiday before getting the late call-up on Wednesday, is the clubhouse leader on day two of the New Zealand Open, presented by Sky Sport.
He shot four-under 68 at The Hills today to go with his 65 at Millbrook Resort yesterday to lead on 10-under par.
“Yesterday I played awesome, in those conditions as well it just all came together. This morning I got off to a fast start – eagle, birdie, birdie. It awesome, it’s an amazing feeling and hopefully I can keep going,” said Eccles.
The hot play today has come from Asian Tour player Pavit Tangkamolprasert who shot an eight-under 64 at The Hills to move to nine-under par overall, and in second place of the morning players.
Chasing him Australian Lucas Herbert, who arrived on Wednesday from the WGC event in Mexico, shot a four-under 68 to be on nine-under along with first round leader Joohjung Kim who has picked up two shots today also at The Hills.
Currently the cut line is anticipated to be one-under par with the weather clearing from morning showers but the wind freshening.
