New Zealand Open Charitable Trust

Supporting local communities and championing the game of golf

The New Zealand Open Charitable Trust

Inspired by the philanthropic traditions of major golf tournaments worldwide, the team behind the New Zealand Open has long envisioned a charitable arm to complement the prestige of the event. That vision became a reality with the establishment of the New Zealand Open Charitable Trust in late 2024.

The New Zealand Open Charitable Trust officially gained charitable status during the 2025 tournament at Millbrook Resort.  The Trust operates independently from the New Zealand Open’s governance, but remains closely connected to the tournament itself.

Our Purpose

The New Zealand Open Charitable Trust is driven by two core purposes:

  • To support the local community that hosts the New Zealand Open, fostering stronger ties between the event and the region.

  • To champion the game of golf, both regionally and across New Zealand, through initiatives that promote participation and development.

With initial seed funding provided by its founders, the New Zealand Open Charitable Trust is now focused on building sustainable annual contributions from players, partners, and attendees. These efforts will help grow an enduring endowment fund and enable the Trust to make meaningful charitable distributions year after year.

Our Mission

At the heart of the New Zealand Open Charitable Trust is a commitment to giving back to the communities that host the New Zealand Open and to the growth of golf across New Zealand.

Our mission is two-fold:

  • To strengthen the bond between the New Zealand Open and its host region by supporting local projects that benefit the community and environment.

  • To advance the game of golf through inclusive initiatives that foster participation and wellbeing, both locally and nationally.

We achieve this by funding organisations and projects with a charitable purpose that aligns with these goals.
