Following the continued success of Hyundai New Zealand’s Drive for Good, players at this year’s New Zealand Golf Open will again play for the chance to win a Hyundai Kona Electric, worth $78,000, for one of three Kiwi charities.

Hyundai is calling for Kiwis to head to www.hyundai.co.nz/driveforgood and let them know which of the three selected charities they would like to see take home the Kona Electric. This year’s charities include Barnardos, the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand and Sustainable Coastlines.

If any player at the NZ Golf Open hits a hole-in-one on the 13th hole, the charity with the most votes at the end of the tournament will be four wheels better off.

Barnardos Chief Executive, Mike Munnelly says “Barnardos is delighted to be a Hyundai New Zealand Drive for Good charity for 2020. If Barnardos is fortunate to be the winner of the Kona Electric, it will enable our staff to visit some of Aotearoa’s most in-need children in their homes.”

Shaun Robinson, CE Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand says “We are excited to be one of three charities involved in the Hyundai Drive for Good campaign. Having an electric vehicle would enable us to continue our mahi of going out to communities across Aotearoa. People are increasingly concerned about climate change and this is impacting on many people’s anxiety; so to be able to do our work in an eco-efficient and responsible way is very important to us.”

Programmes Manager at Sustainable Coastlines, Dan Downing says “We’re so stoked that Hyundai New Zealand have selected us as one of their Drive for Good charities. We function country-wide, driving to beach clean-ups, tree-planting sites, and schools to educate children on plastic pollution and the issues facing our rivers. Having a Kona Electric would make a world of difference to not only helping us operations wise but also to work towards our goal of being more sustainable”.

Kiwi motorsport star and Hyundai New Zealand Ambassador Hayden Paddon will be returning to play for the third time at this tournament and loves the idea of the Drive for Good campaign.

“I really enjoy playing in the New Zealand Open as a Hyundai and Tournament Ambassador. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to do my bit to try to win an incredible prize for a deserving Kiwi charity. I’d love to be the player that strikes a hole-in-one on the Hyundai 13th hole” he says.

General Manager, Andy Sinclair from Hyundai New Zealand, says “Drive For Good is an initiative that is unique to New Zealand and puts a fun twist on the traditional hole-in-one competition. As a 100% Kiwi owned and operated business we’re committed to supporting events and organisations Kiwis care about.”

“Each year the New Zealand Open is upheld as a prestigious event and we continue to feel proud to provide the opportunity for three deserving charities to be involved with the tournament and have the chance to win an all-electric zero-emission Kona EV.”

Whether the Kona EV will have a new home rests on the shoulders of the golfers, however, all votes won’t be made in vain as Hyundai will make a cash donation to each of the charities relative to the voting results.

For more information or to vote for the charity you would like to see win a brand-new Hyundai Kona EV, please visit www.hyundai.co.nz/driveforgood.
